Explore a virtual world in which people live, work, shop and interact with others - all from the comfort of their couch in the physical world.

Using a 3D meta headset, students will meet in a virtual classroom (a 3D environment) to learn about how everything in the world is connected and that there are no barriers to communication and sharing, whilst also exploring how far technology capacity can go. Students will work with their own 3D headsets in a safe 3D environment. The virtual sessions will meet in a virtual classroom to do some sessions on future technologies. Based on their experience, students will produce an instruction booklet (or video) for students/teachers/industry on how to collaborate in a 3D environment, and what the pitfalls to watch out for in this brave new world.

Course Dates:

10th February 2023 – Course begins on-site
11th February – 24th March 2023 – Students work online collaboratively and with weekly 1:1 tutorials
25th March 2023 – Celebration of learning: students return on-site to present their project outcomes.

Interested and interesting students aged 14-17, who are passionate about technology and committed to learning how to deepen and share their understanding and impact in the world.

Students eager to prepare early for future careers in technology, media, communications, education and performance. Future global thinkers, doers and problem-solvers should apply. Risk takers and explorers are welcome here.

Graeme Lawrie will lead this course.  He is already investigating the possibilities and through this has met with a Meta developer and others in a 3D environment and they have expressed an interest to work with him on this course.
